Adolf HUMBORG (Oravita, Romania 1847 - Munich 1921) "Monks in the cellar" (Mönche im Weinkeller) Original watercolor on heavy paper, unmarked but easily traceable due to its resemblance to the works of Adolf Humborg. Austro-Hungarian painter and watercolourist was trained in Vienna and Munich and focused his production on the subjects of monastic life, frequently interpreted in an ironic key. His works are often present in public sales not only in the Austrian and German geographic area but also in the catalogs of both Christie's and Sotheby's, and reach very important auction prices.
